From the Editor...
Welcome to the sixth issue of The Inklings Review.
This month we offer reviews of several books that explore the meaning of the events of Holy Week, from the Last Supper through the Passion of Jesus to Holy Saturday.
Our sometimes diligent scribe reviews and reflects on Gordon T. Smith's A Holy Meal, a beautiful little study of the Lord's Supper. He also reviews a significant English translation of rarely published meditations by Thomas à Kempis On the Passion of Christ, and two books about the meaning of the Crucifixion: John R.W. Stott's classic The Cross of Christ and N. T. Wright's important Evil and the Justice of God.
Elizabeth Hopkins Mickle, our assistant editor, considers Wounds that Heal by Stephen Seamands, which explores the ways that emotional healing can be found in the Lord's sufferings.
Finally, Peter A. Joslyn, a new and we hope regular contributor, reviews Between Cross & Resurrection by Alan E. Lewis, a deep and challenging proposal of a theology of Holy Saturday.
We hope you find these reviews helpful and the books reviewed enlightening and edifying. Blessings to all.
Under the mercy,
Ed Hopkins
